Tuning World Bodensee in the time of corona is like a V8 motor with an empty tank: a nonstarter
Tuning World Bodensee 2021 has been rolled back into the garage. The event was canceled on account of the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic. "Among car enthusiasts, it's generally considered a bad idea to go drifting on a road full of potholes in your sports car with optimized suspension. About the same goes for planning and organizing Tuning World Bodensee in 2021 in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic," explained Klaus Wellmann, managing director of Messe Friedrichshafen. Project lead Dirk Kreidenweiß added, "What brings Tuning World Bodensee to life is the events and the scene, the many chance encounters, and the crowds of car tuning fans. Under the current and foreseeable circumstances, there's no way we can hold our exhibition this spring in a way that preserves its unique character and purpose." Instead, like last year, there will be a Reunion Weekend on October 02 and 03 in order to provide a meeting point for the scene.
Up until recently, Messe Friedrichshafen was optimistic about holding Tuning World Bodensee this year. After all, Dirk Kreidenweiß and his project team had already succeeded in organizing the Interboot water sports exhibition last September under pandemic conditions. "With the escalation of the situation over the course of the winter, we have no choice but to do the responsible thing and do our part to contain the pandemic," said Kreidenweiß. The exhibition and lifestyle event, Europe's largest devoted exclusively to car tuning, is a fixture in the scene.
But there's no need for the tuning community to do completely without an opportunity to meet in 2021. On October 02 and 03, the fairgrounds in Friedrichshafen will host the Tuning Reunion, which was held last year already and sold out in no time.
The next original Tuning World Bodensee will take place from Thursday, May 26, to Sunday, May 29, 2022, at the fairgrounds in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
